Monday Music Mood: Dawn Penn - No, No No (Official Video)

Just a little Monday Music Mood... "You Don't Love Me" by Dawn Penn is such a timeless record and one of my favorite oldies tune , when that beat drops it's nothing but non-stop slow "whining". Over the weekend it was non-stop slow "whining" as I had Dawn Penn ,90's Buju , Patra , Lady Saw , Barrington Levy , Sister Nancy , Chaka Demus & Pliers , Bob Marley and Gregory Issacs on repeat. I tried to create a playlist to put you guys in this good Monday mood that I'm in but for some reason I couldn't upload it to Blogger. If you guys know how to upload playlists to Blogger , drop me a line in the comment section. Also , to the Jamrock folks , are there any good oldies sessions coming up?

Uptown Top Ranking

I'm always rushing out and the morning of the four hour journey to Portland was no different. Grabbed a Rasta mesh merino I bought in Ochi Rios Craft Market a couple years ago and my Dad's over-sized denim jacket from the 60's and pretty much got ready in the vehicle. Whenever I pulled up to a stop light I put on some jewellery , a little lip stick , fixed my hair etc. .. typical me. By the time we got to Portland I was fully dressed and ready .. ready to take it all off and slip into my swimsuit. One thing for sure is that I am certainly not one of those bloggers that always has perfectly laid hair , flawlessly applied make-up and well thought out get-ups , I'm more of a "on the go and took a few pictures while I'm going" type of blogger.

Vacay Day 1: White River Rafting , St.Ann JA

It's been a while hasn't it? I couldn't even remember how to do a post! I missed blogging though and I missed ya'll too.

I actually have a lot to share with you guys , I have posts from as far back as 2013 sitting on my camera.

I look quite different now too and I guess you'll see all the changes from me chopping off all my hair ( it grew and now its shoulder length) , to me braiding my hair black and then blonde (and losing my edges lol) and then gaining 20 pounds and then losing it but you'll see it all as I try to catch up.

As for my absence , what can I say....  I suppose that's how it is sometimes when life wisps you into another direction and you begin to neglect all the things you enjoyed doing. But anyway , I took a vacation from work to spend time with my friends and to tour the island and find those little hidden exotic spots , something I love to do. The first day we drove to Ochi Rios St.Ann ,  had drinks by the pool until early in the AM and then hit the town of Ochi Rios for some nightlife activities , the following morning we went White River Rafting , it was so beautiful.

Vacay Day 2: The Blue Lagoon , Portland JA

Day two of our excursion brought us to the scenic parish of Portland. Portland is my absolute favorite parish because it is so natural , raw and untouched , even the air feels so much lighter. At the Lagoon we went on a raft that floated on water that is 200 ft deep! .. then we took a little rinky dinky boat over to the Cay where the movie "The Blue Lagoon" was shot , it was a beautiful and refreshing day.

On another note , I'll admit that I've been quite risque and daring these days and its most definitely because of my weight loss. Truth be told , for quite some time I wasn't taking care of myself and all my hair fell out (I had to cut it all off) and I gained 20 pounds. I felt so depressed that I didn't even want to go anywhere and my confidence was running low. After I started eating right and taking care of myself again I felt so much happier and healthier and I guess I had a burst confidence , confidence without the ego. I have more stripes than a zebra (stretch marks) , cellulite and scars on my body but I've never felt so comfortable in my flawed skin.

JAE Magazine

Last year November the creative crew behind JAE Magazine offered me a spread as their "style feature". JAE Magazine is known for showcasing Jamaican culture, fashion and art by supporting local talent, brands and businesses therefore I was more than thrilled and flattered that they sought to include me in their catalog of work. On the day of the shoot I was a little nervous but the crew was so professional and down to earth that once make-up artist Natassia Bennett was through applying my make-up I was able to relax and do my thing. For the second look I styled this beautiful vintage White Fur. Red X Gold beaded and sequin evening dress with a leather jacket and ankle high boots for a glamorous yet edgy appeal.

April's Inspiration

Can you believe we are just now summing up last season's winter white trend?
I was actually quite fond of the simplicity of all white back in December 2013 but by January 2014 my wardrobe started fading to black.Thankfully , the good thing about all white is that it is a classic achromatic look that can be injected into your wardrobe all year round. Occasionally , detox from the noisy clashing graphic prints and saturated colour pops and go with a fresh white look updated with more feminine detailing or sleek suiting and minimalist silhouettes.
