March's Inspiration

Black and white is probably one of my favorite trends of 2012/2013 , not only is it easy to do but the union of black and white usually produces a beautiful result , in fact , the union of anything with black usually produces a gorgeous result. For decades, black and white has made a harmonious and elegant statement in fashion so it’s no surprise that the simplicity and "unfussiness" of these hues is one of the most popular trends of 2012/2013 , never underestimate the power of a classic. Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy and Giambattista Valli all showed the color scheme in a number of interpretations from elegant to modern but if you don't have "racks on racks on racks" to drop on these big names you can create just as beautiful looks with what you already have. If you have some checkered pieces , prints, polka dots or stripes sitting in your closet , update them with different textures such as leather, and if you want to get really fancy, add fur. If you want to conquer the trend add an architectural and structured edge with boxy shoulders and shapes and keep the hair and jewellery simple , sleek and sharp with nothing hanging and dangling , do that and you've got this trend mastered.

South Beach Cafe

Over the weekend I was treated to a post birthday dinner at South Beach Cafe in Kingston , Jamaica. First of all I must say that I love that place. Apparently the owners took inspiration from the energetic Miami nightlife and created a triple themed entertainment spot which includes a fine dining deck-style restaurant , bar and cabanas that would be perfect for an intimate dinner for two and a daiquiri bar. I enjoyed the fish I had and after dinner I met the marketing manager of the restaurant who is such a pleasant lady , it was though the staff knew it was a birthday treat as they all treated me like royalty. I was told that the daiquiri bar has eight of the best daiquiri recipes in the world infused with a Jamaican flavor , Rum Fire Rum , I can't wait to go back to South Beach to try these daiquiris. All in all I enjoyed my evening and I am very impressed with the restaurant , the concept is just genius.

Everything except the silver skirt I bought in Jamaica and the individual pieces were inexpensive , that just goes to show that you don't have to have a lot of money to look like a bag of money.

Blackout

Last Saturday (March 2nd) was my 25th birthday and it was a bittersweet one for me. I was happy to see another year and grateful that I have all my needs and most of my wants but this year will be the one that I have to make some important decisions which can either propel me forward or set me back and that makes me really nervous. For some reason though , I get the feeling that it is going to be a good year. My only wish is that I will be happy and have success in whatever it is I decide to do.

My family took me out for dinner at a fancy restaurant in Kingston and for the occasion I wore my favorite colour with my favorite pair of shoes which I bought at Boulevard Shopping Centre in Jamaica and I went all out , gloves and all.
