JAE Magazine

Last year November the creative crew behind JAE Magazine offered me a spread as their "style feature". JAE Magazine is known for showcasing Jamaican culture, fashion and art by supporting local talent, brands and businesses therefore I was more than thrilled and flattered that they sought to include me in their catalog of work. On the day of the shoot I was a little nervous but the crew was so professional and down to earth that once make-up artist Natassia Bennett was through applying my make-up I was able to relax and do my thing. For the second look I styled this beautiful vintage White Fur. Red X Gold beaded and sequin evening dress with a leather jacket and ankle high boots for a glamorous yet edgy appeal.

April's Inspiration

Can you believe we are just now summing up last season's winter white trend?
I was actually quite fond of the simplicity of all white back in December 2013 but by January 2014 my wardrobe started fading to black.Thankfully , the good thing about all white is that it is a classic achromatic look that can be injected into your wardrobe all year round. Occasionally , detox from the noisy clashing graphic prints and saturated colour pops and go with a fresh white look updated with more feminine detailing or sleek suiting and minimalist silhouettes.

This might be the 100th time Mr. Corrie McIntosh  is being featured on White Fur. but this here gentleman comes with a trove of sartorial inspiration with every get-up and hence he is constantly giving me what I'm looking for. Corrie's impeccably tailored suits harks back to the early 60's and 70's which was all about the skinny suits and ties, the flat-front trousers, the lapels and tie bars but yet he manages to stay youthful dabbling and mixing classic styles with today's most current trends. MUSIC MONDAYS

Thought I'd share what is currently on my playlist. On Saturdays when I'm doing chores I would blast my speakers and it's usually to the sounds of old school Lil Kim , Jay-z , Tupac , 80's/90's Dancehall , hardcore rap or corny love songs but I've been vybing to this here Schoolboy Q jam for three days straight now! The beat on this song is so damn smooth and addictive whenever I start dancing you would think I'm in a trance or something. After the first chorus , when the beat drops , I want ya'll to do one thing... bounce.

RUN AWAY BRIDE

I wasn't going to post these pictures because of technical difficulties but in my previous post I came with all this big talk about "cherry poppin" n shit and so I figured I had to post something , anything really or at least explain why I haven't posted in so long. Apparently blogger inserted this new auto-edit feature that is suppose to enhance pictures but its making my photos (and a few other bloggers photos) blurry , discoloured and just awful looking. I have a DSLR camera which I find to be a headache to use and I don't go through all the trouble of getting sharp clean images for blogger to completely obliterate them. I think I might just abandon blogger altogether so for updates follow my instagram page @whitefur1

Anyway , last year I eloped in Atlanta , Georgia. Due to irreconcilable differences my husband I got divorced and a few days later and I turned my wedding dress into a freakum dress.. I'm just kidding! but I did purchase this vintage wedding dress in Atlanta. In its original state it was a huge ,  hideous , frumpy frock that was 4 sizes too small but I had a vision for it and so I bought it none the less. Truth be told I love buying odd articles of clothing and reworking it so that its a dope unique one of a kind piece. It was actually a lot more complicated than it looks but the long and short of it is ; I  cut the dress in half , gave the skirt a high low shape (my favorite) , added a lace up design to the back of the top and used the excess material to make long sleeves and vuuoollaaaa! ... and I do say its the shit , if I do say so myself.

I particularly love this high-low shape in skirts and dresses as its short enough to arouse interest but long enough to cover the essentials and when you walk it looks like you are gliding through air. Similar looks will be available when shopwhitefur.com is updated with new pieces at the end of April.
